German Law provides for an astonishing variety of companies to run a business, ranging from (registered) associations, to civil or commercial law limited and unlimited partnerships, Foundations and Trusts, corporations with variable share capital, to major stock holding corporations; some of them have gained some notoriety, such as the famous limited partnership plus legal entitiy, in particular the GmbH & Co KG.
Each one of them has specific advantages and disadvantages over the others, however mainly for German based tax payers; thus, the following information is deliberately restricted to the GmbH and the AG which are quite correctly the form of companies most favoured by foreign investors.
